John M. Dawes Named CEO of Rusk Rehabilitation Center


John M. DawesJohn M. Dawes, FACHE, has been named CEO of Rusk Rehabilitation Center. He assumed the position on Jan. 16.

As CEO, Dawes oversees the day-to-day operations as well as patient quality and care at the physical inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Bringing more than 35 years of healthcare leadership experience to the role, his most recent position was overseeing 101 licensed beds in an acute care setting.

“We are excited to have John leading the team at Rusk Rehabilitation Center,” said Troy DeDecker, president of the central region for HealthSouth. “His many years of leadership experience will not only benefit his staff, but the patients and their families cared for in our hospital. In addition, he shares the same values we hold as a company of providing high quality care to our patients which makes him a strong fit for this role.”

He achieved his bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Wichita State University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Washington University School of Medicine.

Dawes is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has received many honors for his work as a healthcare leader including the 2014 American Hospital Association’s Grassroots Champion Award for Missouri and the 2015 Missouri Hospital Association Visionary Leadership Award.
